The Department of Languages serves as a cornerstone of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, advancing language education as a vehicle for critical thinking, effective communication, and intercultural understanding. The department offers two distinguished degree programs that equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for academic and professional excellence.

Department Mission:
To graduate academically accomplished students with advanced linguistic and analytical competencies by:
• Delivering up-to-date academic programs that cover linguistic, literary, and cultural dimensions in both Arabic and English.
• Fostering a stimulating learning environment that promotes critical inquiry, independent research, and innovation.
• Aligning with labor-market needs by equipping students with the skills required for education, translation, media, and other evolving professions.
Department Academic Programs:
The department offers two Bachelor’s programs, each designed to deepen students’ command of language and its cultural heritage while broadening avenues for practical application.
1- B.A. in Arabic Language and Literature:
This program focuses on Classical and Modern Standard Arabic across phonology, morphology, syntax, and rhetoric, alongside the critical analysis of literary texts from various eras. It seeks to strengthen students’ engagement with their intellectual heritage and to refine precise, fluent expression in both writing and oratory.
Program Objectives:
• Master the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
• Conduct methodical, critical analyses of poetic and prose texts.
• Contextualize the development of Arabic language and literature within their historical and cultural milieus.
• Prepare students for careers in teaching, linguistic editing, publishing, media, and content creation.
2- B.A. in English Language and Literature:
This program develops advanced proficiency in English and provides a thorough grounding in British and American literature across historical periods, with an emphasis on cultivating critical thinking and analyzing cultural and social discourse.
Program Objectives:
• Achieve high-level proficiency in English for academic and professional contexts.
• Study canonical literary works and cultural texts using contemporary critical approaches.
• Develop competencies in academic research and scholarly writing in English.
• Prepare graduates for careers in translation, education, international relations, tourism, and media.
