New Media in Saudi Arabia
This book, the first of its kind, examines the news content of short text messages, thereby moving beyond the general discourse about new media. It presents an attempt to define a theoretical framework for this modern application through a new reading of the ideas of Marshall McLuhan. It seeks to approach the concept of new media in terms of its meaning and historical context, and monitors its applications in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including electronic journalism, forums, blogs, and social networks. It also paints a picture of the technical cradle of news services via text messages and reviews the accumulated knowledge regarding the concept of news. In addition to this, it presents the findings of the applied research with which the author completed the requirements for his master's degree, as well as the essence of his professional experience in managing the editorial department of a news service via short text messages.
